2. Why should the generators be serviced?

Generator set: engine, filters, oil, coolant, radiator, fuel... and the generator + some electrical connections and a handful of automation. That is why - despite the often complicated automatic systems and some differences in the structure of the engine and other components, the genset can be compared to a car. Every car undergoes an inspection (technical tests) every year. Every few kilometers or every now and then we do a full maintenance - we replace the most important filters or oil. We check the most important systems. In power generators, operating fluids, filters, contacts, injections or other elements are contaminated, corroded, oxidized, water (also emulsified) may appear in the fuel, and the entire engine system may be contaminated due to too long downtime / lack of sufficient load. Lack of service always causes the warranty to be lost. Always, after a certain time - often characteristic of different aggregates, it also implies other negative consequences such as: inability to start, uncontrolled shutdowns also after load, erratic operation or uncontrolled leaks that can pollute the environment. Therefore, regardless of whether the generator works often or not, it should be serviced regularly. The service always includes replacing the most important filters and operating fluids, checking the most important systems and often - removing possible, programmable defects.

3. Why test the generator set under load?

Who has heard the phrase "Put the pedal to the metal" said about the car? And that's just it. In every generator set, as in cars, there are some pollutants, for which the only solution is to "burn them out". It's just healthy to drive a diesel car once in a while, just to keep it in good shape. And sometimes it is worth warming up the generator by letting it run at the min. of 70% load.

In addition, the test of the generator set using a load bank allows the detection of many defects and faults before their automatic escalation. No risk of damage to the powered equipment on the facility.
